Bio

Tim Riordan is an Associate Church Health Coach with NCD America and has served in pastoral ministry for more than 45 years. Most of those years have been spent as a lead pastor, though his ministry experience also includes leadership in worship, education, administration, and youth ministry. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Georgia, a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He is also the author of 17 books.

Throughout his ministry, Tim has had a deep desire to see people develop a passionate relationship with Jesus Christ and churches become increasingly healthy and fruitful. After decades of pastoral ministry, he is convinced that when churches intentionally pursue health and cooperate with the work of the Holy Spirit, spiritual fruit has a way of growing “all by itself”—just as Jesus described in Mark 4.

A Georgia native, Tim has served churches primarily in his home state, as well as in Texas and Alabama. Since 2008, he has served as Lead Pastor of SonRise Baptist Church in Newnan, Georgia, where Natural Church Development has played an important role in helping the church pursue greater health and fruitfulness.

As a coach and leadership trainer with NCD America, Tim brings the perspective of a practitioner to his coaching. More than four decades of pastoral ministry have given him a deep appreciation for both the joys and challenges of leading a local church. His passion for church health grows not simply from studying NCD principles, but from applying them in the church he leads and seeing firsthand how greater health can produce greater fruitfulness. He has had the opportunity to coach and equip pastors, leaders, and churches of many different sizes and settings. Tim believes the principles of church health are practical and accessible, and that through consistent, intentional work and the empowering presence of God’s Holy Spirit, churches can experience renewed health, vitality, and Kingdom fruitfulness.

Tim and his wife, Sandra, have six children and eight grandchildren. In addition to writing, he enjoys backpacking, scuba diving, reading, and spending time with his family. He finds particular joy in encouraging pastors and helping churches become all that God has called them to be.
